History: In 2014, Phoenix Allies for Community Health invited NWB physicians to enter into a collaboration to bring a natural medicine approach to their existing conventional primary care clinic. PACH is staffed by Physician Assistants (PA), PA students, nurses, massage therapists, midwives, EMTs, and other health care professionals. All patients seen at this free clinic are uninsured, extremely medically-underserved and vulnerable. Common pathologies include diabetes, obesity, hypertension, hypothyroidism, depression/anxiety, heart disease, pain, gastrointestinal issues, urinary tract infections, skin diseases, and women’s health issues. Patients are seen by NWB physicians and students working alongside the PA team each Saturday and all care is free.
Future Plans: PACH is currently renovating a larger clinic site which will allow more practitioners to help more patients. NWB gives input into the design of the flow of the future site to accomodate multiple styles of practitioners as well as helping to procure donations to expand capacity and quality of services. NWB is pleased to aid this exciting development in the coming months. Expanding community health capacity is a focus of NWB and supporting the utilization of Community Health Workers is in development.
